Megacasting a New Megatrend for the Car Industry

For Bühler, one of the highlights of 2022 was their achievement in its Die Casting business.

The global automotive industry is in a state of profound transition, driven by the need for more sustainable mobility, including electric vehicles. A resulting trend is megacasting, the manufacture of large structural aluminum body parts to reduce manufacturing complexity, which can lead to cost savings and a lower environmental impact.

Considered groundbreaking by many car manufacturers, megacastings reduce complexity in production by enabling between 70 to 100 steel stamped parts to be replaced by a single die-cast part.

With its megacasting solutions, Bühler is a forerunner in the die casting industry. As the first European OEM, Volvo has announced the implementation of megacasting solutions with Bühler as its technology partner.
